Palermo is a cosmopolitan city, a crazy city. I think it is
more representative of
cities in the world than American cities! Much more chaotic by a longshot.
I will remember those drives from the urban center with its grand old buildings
and monuments, going outward to the 'immigrant high-rises' with their burgeoning
subcultures, outward to villages untouched by time, the whole way passing
families and neighbors sitting on the street socializing. [...] Meals are
slow in Italy. The primary goal of a meal in Italy does not seem to be
eating. It seems to be about 'being'. Enjoying. Socializing. Take your
time."
