Palermo is a cosmopolitan
city, a crazy city. I think it is more representative of
cities in the world than American cities! Much more chaotic by
a longshot. I will remember those drives from the urban center
with its grand old buildings and monuments, going outward to
the 'immigrant high-rises' with their burgeoning subcultures,
outward to villages untouched by time, the whole way passing
families and neighbors sitting on the street socializing. [...]
Meals are slow in Italy. The primary goal of a meal in Italy
does not seem to be eating. It seems to be about 'being'. Enjoying.
Socializing. Take your time."
